June 15, 2011

Today we went to school again and it was quite an interesting day.. (: After school, it rained hard and I had to walk home and by the time I got to Alvaro's house, I was soaking wet. Later, it stopped raining and Paula, Wei, and I walked around town. We got ice cream and saw the church that was built in the 1600's. Now, Danny and I are going to go get some pizza for dinner. Adios!

June 14, 2011

Today, we woke up at 6:15 to go to school. It is Alvaro's birthday today so we got him two shirts. There was no electricity today, so it was really hot in the classrooms. Because of this, they ended school an hour early. After, Danny, Alvaro and some of his friends, and I went back to Alvaro's house to eat lunch. Then Danny and I walked into town to find some sweet food. We got cake. Yum. Tonight we're going for pizza to celebrate Alvaro's birthday.

June 13 - Beach Day

Hi Everyone,

This is Danny. Today we went to la Playa Hermosa. Eugenia, the principal of the school, took us. It was over an hour away, but the drive was full of beautiful scenery. We made a few stops along the way, too. When we finally arrived, the view was beautiful (I'll post pictures later). The beach is part of a touristy resort so it was very nice. We just entered as guests. The sun was out, but it wasn't too hot. There were some clouds for shade and it didn't rain all day. How great! The water was nice and it was very fun to ride the waves. After hours enjoying the ocean, we went to the resort's restaurant for lunch. I (Danny) had pizza, and Gabi had spaghetti. The view from the restaurant was "hermosa." Today was an awesome day. We both wish everyday could be like this, but we have to go to school the rest of the week. It's great to learn Spanish but it's not all that fun. Anyways, at this point we are kind of looking forward to coming home (especially for the sweets for gordita aka Gabi). Today was great!

More About My Trip in Costa Rica

So, I´m a little behind in blogging.. The day after the one I last posted about, Danny, my mom, and I, went zip lining. In spanish, they call it: canopy. It was so fun, we got to go on 12 lines and they had amazing views and were pretty long. It was a great experience and definitly worth the 2 hour bumpy drive on the dirt road to get there. And after, it started down pour raining, so we were all soaking wet.. But it was funny because it just added to the whole experience. After that, Alvaro´s mom dropped us off at the beach and we had lunch then went in the ocean and made some new friends, Marvin and Jesus. Then the next day I left Alvaro´s house to stay with Pilar. We hung out at her house for a while then went to Paula´s house. Her house is so pretty, its on the outskirts of down where the houses are really spread apart. She has a really big house, so we played ping pong, fusbol, volleyball, soccer, and road bikes. There are so many things you can do at her house so that was really fun. Lastly today, was the party for Father´s Day where each grade would do a dance. It was fun to watch.. That is all for now! Bye

Then we went to her dad's work, he works for the public school in Nicoya, he is the principal. Afterwards, we went to Pilar's house to meet Pau and we walked to the Pizzeria. We met Wei and David there and hung out there for a while. After this we walked around town and took a lot of pictures, it was really fun.

Costa Rica ~ Dia Uno y Dos

Hola! I arrived in Nicoya, Costa Rica yesterday. This place is amazing. I'm staying with a family who has a son in 8th grade, Alvaro. None of them speak English, which is good in a way.. The main highway is tiny compared to our main highways. It was quite a journey to get there, the two lane road. When we first got there, the principal of the school Eupi showed us to her house, where my mom would be staying. Then, we went to Alvaro's house. At the school Eupi, the principal introduced us ( me and my cousin Danny ) to most of the classroom's, then we volunteered in the little kids classroom. When we got back to Alvaro's house, we went to his farm, which was very tropical. He has mango, pinneaple, and avacado trees. Also, pigs, ducks, chickens, and horses. Danny and I road the horse also. There were also wild monkeys in the trees. Then, we went home and to bed because we were really tired from the plane ride. Then today, we woke up at 6:15 to go volunteer in the school, first we went with the little kids. But, decided to stay with the older kids. I went in the 9th grade classroom, and Danny went in the 8th grade. Isn't that saying something?? Just kidding, he was in Alvaro's room, and I was in Pilar's (The girl I'm going to stay with later) It was so fun being in their classroom because all of the girls came up to me, saying hello and writing me notes saying they wanted me to come to their house and hang out! They were all so nice, but it was hard for me to understand them. I really enjoy Pilar and all of her friends. No, I have not run yet, I mean really, how can I when I get to hang out spanish speakers for three weeks! Lastly, the principal took us to Samara to eat lunch, and go visit the beach. I did take pictures, but don't have time today to up today, but I'll make sure to soon.
Well, voy a la casa de Pilar, adios!
