Super Girl

Wake up at five every morning
Shower
She tries on thirty different outfits
Finding the perfect
Precise
Beautiful ensemble is key
Headphones on
As the music plays she heats up the straightener.
Second drawer on the left
Black gem bag onto the counter
She pulls out the orange cylinder
Three layers of mascara is applied
Two of eyeliner
One of cover up,
To hide her flaws
Her mistakes
Her pain.
Her beautiful, messy curls are now straight
Hiding her right eye.
A bite of toast for breakfast
Out the door without a word spoken
At school, a boy winks at her
A popular girl smiles
Secret lunches in an alley
Long weekends of regret
But next week
She gets to do it all again
Consummation at last.

Update~

So, I'm kind of behind. The trip was an overall great experience! I made so many friends and learned a lot more spanish and a lot about their culture. Two of the girls might be coming to stay with me! Which would be really awesome. I've been home for two weeks now and back into the swing of things. I've started running again, which is good. This coming weekend, my dad and I are doing a 7 mile race in vail, then my family are I are going to hike the fourteener Princeton. And we're meeting with our running coach to do a workout. My mom has been out of state this week, so I've been the mom. It's actually not been that bad because I get a car for the whole week!
If you didn't know, I love music, so I was really excited when Selena Gomez's new album came out! It's awesome, and I'm going to see her concert in September! I also want to see Taylor Swift, but the ticket would be $150.. better start raising money!

June 15, 2011

Today we went to school again and it was quite an interesting day.. (: After school, it rained hard and I had to walk home and by the time I got to Alvaro's house, I was soaking wet. Later, it stopped raining and Paula, Wei, and I walked around town. We got ice cream and saw the church that was built in the 1600's. Now, Danny and I are going to go get some pizza for dinner. Adios!

June 14, 2011

Today, we woke up at 6:15 to go to school. It is Alvaro's birthday today so we got him two shirts. There was no electricity today, so it was really hot in the classrooms. Because of this, they ended school an hour early. After, Danny, Alvaro and some of his friends, and I went back to Alvaro's house to eat lunch. Then Danny and I walked into town to find some sweet food. We got cake. Yum. Tonight we're going for pizza to celebrate Alvaro's birthday.

June 13 - Beach Day

Hi Everyone,

This is Danny. Today we went to la Playa Hermosa. Eugenia, the principal of the school, took us. It was over an hour away, but the drive was full of beautiful scenery. We made a few stops along the way, too. When we finally arrived, the view was beautiful (I'll post pictures later). The beach is part of a touristy resort so it was very nice. We just entered as guests. The sun was out, but it wasn't too hot. There were some clouds for shade and it didn't rain all day. How great! The water was nice and it was very fun to ride the waves. After hours enjoying the ocean, we went to the resort's restaurant for lunch. I (Danny) had pizza, and Gabi had spaghetti. The view from the restaurant was "hermosa." Today was an awesome day. We both wish everyday could be like this, but we have to go to school the rest of the week. It's great to learn Spanish but it's not all that fun. Anyways, at this point we are kind of looking forward to coming home (especially for the sweets for gordita aka Gabi). Today was great!

More About My Trip in Costa Rica

So, I´m a little behind in blogging.. The day after the one I last posted about, Danny, my mom, and I, went zip lining. In spanish, they call it: canopy. It was so fun, we got to go on 12 lines and they had amazing views and were pretty long. It was a great experience and definitly worth the 2 hour bumpy drive on the dirt road to get there. And after, it started down pour raining, so we were all soaking wet.. But it was funny because it just added to the whole experience. After that, Alvaro´s mom dropped us off at the beach and we had lunch then went in the ocean and made some new friends, Marvin and Jesus. Then the next day I left Alvaro´s house to stay with Pilar. We hung out at her house for a while then went to Paula´s house. Her house is so pretty, its on the outskirts of down where the houses are really spread apart. She has a really big house, so we played ping pong, fusbol, volleyball, soccer, and road bikes. There are so many things you can do at her house so that was really fun. Lastly today, was the party for Father´s Day where each grade would do a dance. It was fun to watch.. That is all for now! Bye

Costa Rica ~ Dia Uno y Dos

Hola! I arrived in Nicoya, Costa Rica yesterday. This place is amazing. I'm staying with a family who has a son in 8th grade, Alvaro. None of them speak English, which is good in a way.. The main highway is tiny compared to our main highways. It was quite a journey to get there, the two lane road. When we first got there, the principal of the school Eupi showed us to her house, where my mom would be staying. Then, we went to Alvaro's house. At the school Eupi, the principal introduced us ( me and my cousin Danny ) to most of the classroom's, then we volunteered in the little kids classroom. When we got back to Alvaro's house, we went to his farm, which was very tropical. He has mango, pinneaple, and avacado trees. Also, pigs, ducks, chickens, and horses. Danny and I road the horse also. There were also wild monkeys in the trees. Then, we went home and to bed because we were really tired from the plane ride. Then today, we woke up at 6:15 to go volunteer in the school, first we went with the little kids. But, decided to stay with the older kids. I went in the 9th grade classroom, and Danny went in the 8th grade. Isn't that saying something?? Just kidding, he was in Alvaro's room, and I was in Pilar's (The girl I'm going to stay with later) It was so fun being in their classroom because all of the girls came up to me, saying hello and writing me notes saying they wanted me to come to their house and hang out! They were all so nice, but it was hard for me to understand them. I really enjoy Pilar and all of her friends. No, I have not run yet, I mean really, how can I when I get to hang out spanish speakers for three weeks! Lastly, the principal took us to Samara to eat lunch, and go visit the beach. I did take pictures, but don't have time today to up today, but I'll make sure to soon.
Well, voy a la casa de Pilar, adios!

Where I'm From

I’m from Brook and Kraig
Running in the night behind the Lafayette house
I’m from hiding behind my pillow during thunder storms
Getting up early to see the sunrise
Picking ripe, bright red raspberries and carrots ‘till my knees hurt
I’m from locking myself in my room listening to Barney

I’m from being the bigger person
Jumping on the tramp until the anger disappears
Lying in the rain crying
I’m from taking artistic photos,
Blocking out the world with my IPod

I’m from two sisters with competition
Staying up late laughing and arguing
I’m from being there for each other through the hard, sad, good, fun, and surprising times
Running to the park for Groundies
I’m from traveling together to New Zealand or Boulder,
Being chased by a sea lion or swinging for hours
I’m from seeing cute boys to avoiding creeps

I’m from long swim practices and new shoes
Taking trips to warm places
Heading to Montana at my uncle’s private club and getting stuck in the snow
I’m from big family get – togethers
I’m from the fancy table sets, rich classy people, and not fitting in
Worthless young kid drama

I’m from nine cousins to family reunions where we don’t know anybody,
Missing the group picture and eating ice cream at a separate table as if we’re not the same
I’m from crazy boyfriend emails splitting the family apart,
Making them untrustworthy for eternity
I’m from a family of love and a hint of judge hidden behind the smiling faces

I’m from visiting the world,
Camping instead of the fancy hotels
I’m from hiking fourteeners for hours and cheering on elite runners
I’m from planting a garden and checking on it until I see a bud, a leaf, a flower developing
I’m from muddy feet watching bike races, enjoying lake parties and barbeques

I’m from my best friend at a running camp
Meeting one person, knowing one person
Window talking with cute boys
Videoing our every thought
Crazy loud late nights and early morning runs to relaxing yoga
To not wanting to say goodbye to the lovely memories

I’m from visiting Mexico annually
Staying at a private resort, a peninsula to ourselves
I’m from getting up at midnight to watch a huge ship come in
Taking hundreds of pictures of the Lift Bridge
To getting ticks and ten cookie packages
Meeting strangers and eating at a restaurant more than once

I’m from pushing to tears
Hard workouts to achieve accomplishment
Focusing on this, and this only
I’m from the defeated attitude to “trying your best all of the time”
I’m from not giving up
I’m from developing who I am, not only as a runner, but
As a person

Run/Strength/Bio

Yesterday, I did hill repeats will my fam. Well, and 400's. First, we would run a 400 (all on a straight gravel road) fast, I did them at around 6 minute pace. Then, we would rest for a little, then run back the 400, but more like 8 minute pace, then when the 400 ended, there was a hill, around a minute and 10 seconds long. Once we approached the bottom of the hill, we would pick up the pace, then once we got over the hill, sprint to the finish. We did these two intervals 2 more times, so 6 intervals in total. I did strength the day before, so my legs hurt really bad. It was tough, but a good workout! Today when I got home from school, I did 3 hours of honor biology homework. It was long, but very productive. I got a lot done. Now, I'm going to go rest up for my sprint workout tomorrow! Night!

Welcome to my Blog!

Hey, this is my first blog so I should probably say some things about myself. My name is Gabriela Koski, and I am 16 years old. I got my license on my birthday, April 1st. I'm a sophomore in High School, and participate in three sports. In the fall, I compete in Cross Country, which is personally my favorite sport. I love to run! Then, in the winter, I'm on the swim team. I swim the 500 yards, 200 yards, and 100 yards. I do other races also, but those are my main ones. Then, in the spring, well, my freshman year I did track, but this year I decided to do tennis. I didn't enjoy track as much as a thought I would and a lot of my friends are on tennis, so why not? I did enjoy it, and now that it's over, I'm training for the Bolder Boulder. My goal is to break 50:00 minutes. Okay, now my interests. I love to listen to music, I pretty much always have my ipod on me. I also really enjoy photography. I'm not much of a skier, I'd rather hike up mountains.. and in any other season besides winter. Well, that's me!
